Have you ever thought of visiting in just one day the archaeological excavations of Pompeii and also the majestic volcano that caused its total destruction? With our tour you can make this dream come true, first exploring the ancient archaeological excavations in the company of a specialized guide, then climbing Vesuvius and looking out over the crater rim and admiring the splendid panorama of the Gulf of Naples. Our tour begins with all the comforts of an 8-seater Mercedes Van that will take you to
Pompeii, at the foot of Vesuvius. Famous on a planetary level, the excavations of Pompeii are the most famous archaeological site in the world, able to return to the visitor a Roman town, whose life has stood still on a distant morning in 79 AD, an era from which Vesuvius decided to erase it from the earthly orb.
The city owes its exceptional state of conservation to the way it was buried. Tons of ashes, pumice and lapilli covered it under a layer of over 6 meters, while preserving it from most of the ravages of time.
The same pyroclastic materials, cementing themselves around the invested bodies, have preserved their imprint, allowing archaeologists to return them to us in the attitudes assumed following short but atrocious agonies.
After regaining strength with a typical Neapolitan pizza in one of the Pompeii restaurants, we will continue our tour reaching the volcano that destroyed the city.
The bilingual authorized driver will take you to the top at a height of about 1000 meters, after which you will leave the car to continue the walk to the crater.
Vesuvius is one of the only two active volcanoes in Continental Europe and is about 1281 meters high, showing a typical "enclosure" shape dominated by the large cone structure.
The entire Vesuvius National Park boasts not only naturalistic beauties, but also an agricultural and wine production that is unique for its variety and originality of flavors and a visit to the crater is a must for tourists from all over the world.
The panorama that can be admired is of rare beauty and the route allows you to completely circumnavigate the entire volcanic building of Vesuvius and return to the starting point.
Even today, the most requested excursion by tourists is the path to the crater which culminates with the arrival at the Gran Cono: the excursion is not particularly strenuous, it is suitable for everyone and does not require specific trekking preparation.
**** The tour can be integrated with a visit to the city of Herculaneum, not far from Pompeii, which had a similar fate in 79 AD. . The Herculaneum tour will allow you to get to know the life of the ancient city, quiet, elegant and characterized by elegant residences that enjoyed a breathtaking view over the entire Gulf of Naples. Despite the eruption, many materials have been preserved: food, ropes, papyrus, charred wooden objects such as boats, doors, beds and stairs, roofs and upper floors of buildings.
With the guided tour of the Herculaneum excavations it is possible to reconstruct the last moments of a city where you can still breathe the air of wealth and the atmosphere of quiet that preceded the catastrophe. ****The return time to Naples is scheduled for 5:00 pm and you will return directly to your hotel, cruise ship or train station.

Two of my co-workers had already used Imperial Car Service and I see why they raved about this service! They are all top notch customer-focused people. The owner, Michele, provides excellent recommendations on how to plan a great day and allows ample time in the plan to enjoy the sights or restaurants. He will even coordinate tour guides or make dinner reservations. And the drivers are a JOY to ride with.
Safe and professional driving (a LOT to expect in Italy!!) and friendly, fun conversation as you go. Both Paolo and Vincenzo drove us on our trip, and they are two new friends now! These guys are consummate professionals, but add a Napolitano flavor to the day that made it SO fun! We used them for 3 different trips during the week and it was relaxing to know they would be there, on time, to take care of us since this was our first trip to Italy. We will use them every time!
This was one of the best days we had during our two weeks in Italy . Paulo was our driver for several days and was amazing .
He was accommodating , flexible and friendly.
When we got off at wrong traini station in Naples.. no problem .. Paulo came and got us !
His love of the Amalfi Coast is evident and you experience that when your travel with this tour. He is an excellent driver and we felt safe. His restaurant recommendations were the best! We can’t wait to return !
Paulo was recommended to us by friends in our community. We now join the chorus of people, some of them our friends, who deservedly have posted rave reviews of Paolo. My wife and I took an amazing 10 trip to the Amalfi coast (3 days in Sorrento and Capri, 3 days in Positano and 4 days in Ravello). Paolo helped us get back and forth from the airport and from one hotel to another. We also spent a whole day with Paolo visiting the small quaint villages between Ravello and Salerno. While planning the trip in the US, I was in constant email contact with Paolo, getting ideas and feedback from Paolo every step of the way. Paolo was amazingly informative, courteous, helpful and generous of his time for an unpaid service. I always got the feeling from Paolo that he was proud of this little strip of heaven called the Amalfi coast and that his mission/motivation was to share it with the rest of us. His enthusiasm is contagious and we grew to love the food, the culture and the people of this amazing region.
My wife and I always felt that Paolo was taking care of us and his sole goal was to maximize our experience in Amalfi. Paolo gave us insights and information about what it is like to be a local which we always enjoyed. He was entertaining but always intuitively knew when to give us our own space. Paolo was always flexible with our itinerary and willing to add/delete something as requested.
Paolo took us on a full day trip to the tiny little villages between Ravello and Salerno including Minori, Maiori, Cetara and Vietre Sul Mare. We wanted to experience the real Amalfi, beyond the tourist traps, where the locals live.
Paolo completely customized the tour. Paolo took us to some shops in Maiori that were off the beaten path and he took us to an amazing thousand-year old castle on a mountain top in Minori. We ate the fresh figs, grapes and carob off the trees as we walked through the gardens of the remote castle. Amazing experience that is not at all touristy. During the 2 hours we were there, we saw only 2 other couples. He took us to a plaque in Cetara which memorializes the Jews of this town who were forced to leave their homes during the holocaust (nobody knows about this plaque). We shared a lunch of fresh salads, fried anchovies and pasta with Paolo in Cetara. Paolo took pictures of us as we walked on the the deserted beach in Vietre Sul Mare at sunset.
We can't say enough about Paolo. He was amazing and helped make this trip truly spectacular.
